A visit at Russian Mushroom Days, 2015.

The Russian Mushroom Days was organised between 19-21 of May, in the historical town Suzdal (200 km from Moscow to the east). The conference was well attended, more than 150 participants took part from 12 different countries. Beside the Russian the largest group was the Chinese with 27 people because they have serious interest investing in mushroom industry in Russia.

In the opening lecture of the conference Alexander Khrenov gave an overview of the Russian mushroom industry. The total mushroom production was 11’773 tons in 2014, this is more 15% increase compare with 2013 (the production was 10’087 tons in 2013). The production of the Agaricus was 8’203 tons and the Pleurotus production was 3’433 tons in 2014.

As the local investors also have more interest in mushroom production on the first day the potential investors who registered to the conference had possibility to get an impression about the composting and growing technology. The conference continued with agaricus and exotics session on the next day. Exhibition was also organised with 14 exhibitors. Beside the “usual” exhibitors like Christiaens, Dalsem from Holland 6 Chinese machine manufacturer took part offering their complete agaricus and exotics mushroom technology for the investors competing with the European companies. Sylvan also had a stand and it gave us an opportunity to meet and discuss with our customers.

The Mushroom Days finished with a campfire and mushroom barbecue where we could taste different grilled mushrooms made by the chef of the best mushroom restaurant of Moscow.
