German mushroom production back on track

German mushroom production reaches, according to the German growers cooperation, a volume of 62,000 tons, which is 2,000 tons more than 2010. After a bad period in 2007 (55,000 tons), the production is almost equal again to 2001 (63,000 tons).

The amount of money spent by consumers on mushrooms, also increased by 1.5%, but that increase is on the full account of brown mushrooms. About 8,000 tons is for the processing industry, that volume has been stable over the past years.
