Shrooly, the home mushroom growing gadget

There are many different types of home mushroom growing kits, from the very simple cardboard compost boxes to slightly more sophisticated systems. However, the UK-designed Shrooly mushroom cultivation gadget seems a little more revolutionary than all of these. A truly 21st century smart mushroom growing device.

Today, there are many similar smart home hydroponic growing systems that use programmed lighting, water and temperature control systems to grow seeds into vegetables and fruit, such as lettuce or strawberries. The Shrooly is based on a similar idea, a mobile app-controlled mini-cultivation chamber that allows you to grow a variety of easy-to-grow mushrooms on small blocks of mushroom spawn.

Shrooly’s inventors promise their customers that, in addition to the experience, it gives you the opportunity to put expensive and/or hard-to-grow mushrooms on the table in 1-2 weeks, without any effort. The species available include pink oyster, honey mushroom, lion’s mane, maitake, reishi, king oyster, shiitake, enoki, shimeji, yellow oyster mushroom, wood ear and cordyceps.

During the mushroom growing process, the brave entrepreneurs just need to add water to the growing chamber and the Shrooly unit does the rest of the work: maintaining the ideal levels of humidity, temperature, light and ventilation. A small e-ink display on the side of the unit provides continuous information on the current parameters of the growing process.

Amazing design

A huge leap forward in design compared to its predecessors, this device is now so impressive that it can even be placed in a prominent position in the living room, where you can monitor the growth of your little mushroom family member day after day. Its minimalist design is eye-catching and guaranteed to attract the attention of family members and guests.

Obviously, there is no point in talking about return on investment or economy with a toy like this, as the mushrooms grown in it will be significantly more expensive than any fresh mushrooms on the market, but that’s not the point. It’s a toy for people interested in mushroom growing and technology, a gadget that gives you pleasure while growing mushrooms.

The device is currently in the prototype production and pre-order phase following a successful community funding campaign, and anyone with an irresistible desire to try Shrooly will be able to get their hands on their own mini mushroom chamber in December 2022 at the earliest.

“We offer a great way for people to be healthy and have easy access to these superfoods. In the long term, we are also providing a sustainable, smart food source for the world’s growing population.” – say the co-founders of Shrooly.
